Back to the Castle

Castle

Eric Oshige, Kevin Shehan, Kyle Caudle and I are on our way to Castle Recording Studios in Franklin, TN. We will be updating video and audio all weekend, so check back soon!

The album is finally starting to happen. I’m really excited about working with my buddy Rich Ramsey again who will be engineering, producing, mixing, mastering and playing some sweet B3 on the tracks. Stephen Russ (AKA: The Prophet of Pop) helped narrow down about 35 songs to 12, and this weekend we will be recording the drum and bass tracks for at least 8 of them.

A few of these songs can be found on SoundCloud with just acoustic guitar and vocals. Some of these tunes didn’t make the cut and others have been drastically changed. The clip below is a 3-year-old song that is going to sound a lot different with a full band. It will be interesting to hear the “before and after” comparisons.

A Fresh Start

It is time to hit the sophomore slump head on. I haven’t put an album out there since July of 2008 and my only full-length album came out in March of 2006. Anybody remotely close to me has heard me talk about recording a new one for the last two years and the time has finally come.

Spring is in the air and the Dogwood Trees are blooming. It just seems right to wipe the slate (blog) clean, publish a new website, dust off the old recording equipment and give this whole music thing another shot. This blog will be used to let others share in the journey. My hope is that this can be a vehicle for folks to gain new insights into the music industry and understandings of what it takes for their favorite independent artists to make the music they know and love.

Buckle up! Let’s see what happens.

Thanks for reading!
